The lunch today features Ground turkey, sauteed bok-choy, rice onigiri face, flower shaped apples and lychee jelo (from an Asian store). To make, here are the recipes...
Vegetables:
Put 1 cup baby bok-choy in a bowl of water and heat in microwave 30 seconds. Remove hot water, and pour ice water to blanch. Drain water and cut up leaves in small sizes. In a small pot, heat 1 tsp sesame oil, add shredded imitation crab meat and bok-choy. Season with salt to taste.
Sautee until vegetable is done about 3-5 minute.
Ground meat:
in a Frying pan, add 1/2 cup chopped onions & 1 Tbsp minced garlic. Brown 1lb ground turkey until meat is done. Season with 1 Tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp ground pepper. Optional: add 1/4 cup frozen green peas, raisins and chopped red pepper for extra flavor.
Onigiri: FACE
When white rice is cooked and lukewarm, Add 1 cup into a plastic wrap, then wrap it and twist the top so it is shaped like a ball. mold it in your hands so it sticks together. Open face down into a food cup. While rice is still warm, add round nori (seaweed) eyes, and 3 strips for hair. I used an imitation crabmeat for mouth.
