Got this yummy recipe from my sister who calls this Stephenson's baked chicken with butter and cream.
Pretty simple ingredients, with an added gravy which she recommends serve with mashed potatoes. I tried this recipe today, and it was smelling good in the kitchen. Can't wait to see what my husband's (my official taste tester) reaction would be..
The chicken turns out crunchy..
In making the chicken, I added a few drops of lemon juice on the chicken prior to dredging in the flour.
Ingredients:
1/2 C Flour (unbleached organic flour)
1-1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cut-up chicken or pieces (organic free range)I recommend taking the skin off or else your gravy will be oily
1/4 c organic butter
1-1/2 c hot water
1/2 c nonfat dry milk powder ( )
The results are better than using regular milk
Dip chicken in water; coat with mixture of flour and seasonings. Put skin side up in baking dish (deeper is better to keep gravy from drying out.). Dot with butter; bake at 425F degrees for 30 minutes (less time if using boneless chicken.) or until brown.
Remove from oven, Mix water and milk powder and pour around chicken. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 350F 45 minutes more or until chicken is tender
