I was in the mood to try something new, with ingredients I've never dared tried before. So it seemed that, thanks to this recipe from Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals..this sounds easier than it sounds!
The taste of anchovies did not over power the steak not even a hint. I've never tried this grape tomato salad with caper berries before and I loved it. I added a 1T of vinegar to the salad recipe as I liked it that way.

If you want to try out this recipe, this is taken from Everday Rachael Ray magazine Sept 2009 edition.

Ingredients:
4 Flatiron or small sirloin steaks
2 large cloves garlic halved
2 T EVOO
salt and pepper
2T butter, softened
2tsp anchovy paste
1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
1/4 c chopped black olives
5 caper berries, drained and sliced
1/2 small red onion chopped
1/2 cup coarsely chopped parsley

Directions
1/ Heat grill or pan to medium high. Rub steaks with garlic and drizzle with EVOO. Grill steaks, turning once for 8 minutes for med-rare. Season with salt and pepper
2. In a small bowl, mix butter and anchovy paste. Dollop on top of steaks.
3. In a bowl, combine the tomatoes, olives, caper berries, onion, parsley, EVOO, season with salt and pepper. Top the steaks with the tomatoe salad.

It's actually very good! Never tried cooking this kind of steak successfully till now. I love the side salad too!

Mango Cream Pie

For mother's day, a friend of mine gave me 2 yellow mangoes. Mangoes has to be my favorite fruit. My brother shared with me a mango cream pie recipe along with my friend's mother who made it out of mango puree. This recipe is sort of a combination of both. The best mango cream pie has yet to be from Red Ribbon bakery...sweet crust, mangoes and whipped cream. For good results get sweet ripe mangoes for this recipe or add some white sugar to it. If you can't find any good mangoes, you can also try mango puree and just mix it with the cream mixture. Ginataang Kalabasa at Hipon Ingredients 1 c Peeled Raw Shrimp 1/2 White Onion Chopped 1T Minced Garlic 1T Bagoong Alamang (Shrimp Paste) 1 can Coconut Milk 3 c Kalabasa (Orange Squash) in cubes (3 inches) 1 c Green Beans or Sitaw cute in 3 inches length 1/2 c Spinach or Green leafy vegetable 1 T oil for pan Cooking Directions Heat oil in a deep pot. Saute Onions and Garlic to soften. Add Shrimp until it turns pink, remove shrimp and set aside in a bowl. Add bagoong to the pot and pour coconut milk. Mix. Let boil then simmer to medium low for 5 minutes or until reduced. Add Squash, cover and simmer for 7 minutes or until semi-soft.
